Why More Companies Are Becoming Pet Friendly
Pet owners are doing their part to ease us out of the recession by spending big bucks on their four-legged and feathered friends. Over the last ten years, owners spent a total of $51 billion on their pets, which is a 73% increase over the previous decade. These numbers are hard for businesses to ignore.
On-the-go pet owners that like to bring their animals just about everywhere used to have very few upscale travel options – not so today. More airlines, hotels and restaurants are throwing out the welcome mat for patrons and their pets. Limo companies in cities across the country are also starting to cater to clients that prefer to travel with pets.
Seeing as nearly 40% of Americans are dog owners, this is a sizable customer base that could have a huge impact on the industry.
Bringing Pets Along for the Limo Ride
As with other modes of transportation, like airplanes, there are limitations to pet-friendly limo rides. All companies have their own guidelines when it comes to which animals can ride along. Usually these include:
- Types of animals
- Weight of animals
- Number of animals
Before choosing a limo company make sure you completely understand their pet policies. Some companies haven’t jumped on the pet bandwagon and won’t allow animals on board in any situation. Others may ask that you keep the pet in their carrier during the drive. Even if this isn’t required it’s a good idea since it will reduce the risk of damaging the interior.
If at all possible, allow your pet to take a bathroom break before the limo ride. Again, you don’t want to incur an additional expense to get the interior cleaned. There may already be an extra fee for bringing your pet along, but that will likely be a convenience fee and won’t cover the cost of repairs.
Pets are a part of the family, and luckily more businesses are starting to realize that if they cater to animals their owners will become loyal clients.
